Waste Week 2024!
Waste Week 2024!

Well done to all the children who brought in used batteries last term.  The batteries collected by each class have been weighed by the Eco- Cops  and the results are finally in! Weighing a huge 11.5 kilograms, a huge well done to Year 4 who collected the most. Overall, our whole school collected an amazing 38.4 kilograms. These will be collected from school and then taken away to be recycled into new items. Please remember our school will continue to recycle batteries so please send any used ones in with your child. Many Thanks, Mrs Ritchie and the Eco-Cops

Year 5 – First Aid Training
Year 5 – First Aid Training

On Friday, Year 5 had an excellent day learning essential first aid skills. They looked at DRABC (Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing and Circulation); how to perform CPR; what a defibrillator is, how to use it and where it is located in our school; how to put someone in the recovery position and how to bandage a wound. All children worked very sensibly and asked lots of important questions.

Key Stage One’s Police Visit!
Key Stage One’s Police Visit!

Yesterday Key stage one had a very special visitor. PC Stephen came in to talk to us all about the role of a police officer within the community and share some of his experiences. He was super friendly and approachable, Stephen encouraged use all to smile, wave and talk to officers when we see them out and about, they are here to help! We particularly enjoyed trying on parts of the uniform and learning about the equipment he carries. Thank you PC Stephen!

Year 3 & 4 Hindu Visitor

Yesterday Year 3 and 4 had a special visitor, Kirtida from Newcastle Hindu Temple. She came with lots of exciting Hindu artefacts and clothing for us to explore. We enjoyed finding out lots of interesting information about the Hindu religion, we listened to Kirtida sing, chant and play her special drum. We ended the session with some fun dressing up and questions and answers!

Achievement, Teaching, Behaviour and Leadership

Welcome to our Academy… As Headteacher of Riverside Primary Academy, I would like to warmly welcome you to our school website. I hope you can find all of the information you require about our school here, but if you have any further questions, please ring us and ask. The Governing Body, the Leadership Team and I have a very clear vision of what we want and how to get the best deal for our children and the community we serve. For this reason, we made the decision in 2012 to become an academy. This means we have been given the freedom to make choices for our school which bring the most benefits to our children and our families. We are no longer a Local Authority school and therefore, there are some differences in the way we do things at our school to the way they are done in others. … Read More
